Beats will happen on “The Telegraph Hill EP” because of OjiMadeDaBeat. Who? mortals might ask.

Ighure “OjioMadedeBeat” Ojiyovbi is a Nigerian rapper and Producer born March 9, 1989, in Delta state, but was raised in Lagos. He is a graduate of Babcock University and he studied International Law and Diplomacy.

Ojiyovbi has been rapping since his undergraduate days but picked up music/sound production before he graduated in 2011. He made a couple songs with a group that got airplay and shows at that time. However, he has been away sharpening his craft and observing the Nigerian music environment.

Based on research I have heard most of his beats on his SoundCloud and I like “What are you bothering me for”, “Felaaa”, “Nothing but girls, drinks and weed” and “Trippy” as it’s his first work ever put out. As a producer Oji has worked with mainly underground acts, his current project is a collaboration with his old time friend Tomboxe, they’ve made music together in the past.

Musically, the goal for Ojiyovbi is to build a brand recognised for making organic feel-good music that resonates with listeners within Nigeria and the world. The Telegraph Hill Ep is his first project and some of the challenges faced have been accessing Music platforms and getting into the industry. Earlier I spoke about how bad the Nigerians music Industry is structured.

As for inspiration, he draws from himself, 40,  Illangelo, J. Cole, Kanye, Kendrick, Eminem, Drake, Wale, The Weeknd, Frank Ocean, Metro Boomin.

The Telegraph Hill EP will  not be boxed in by categories as it would explore every genre, it will also be organic. Expect good music.
