I believe you all would agree with me when I say the quality of songs being released by most Nigerian artists is deplorable. You listen to some song and you would go like what’s this ?
Though we have published most of the songs released by top Nigerian artistes in a little over a year since BeatingBbeats started , not up to 20% of those songs made it into my personal playlist. And probably this is because most Nigerian Artists have no epitom of artistry in them, they do not know how to bleed into their art. What Nigerian artists do is that they simply go into the booth and pour out the garbage they have taken in, the weed, the alchohol and women. The average Nigerian rapper’s dream is to keep putting out singles until it “Blows” and then he gets paid a large sum of money from marketers in Alaba International market. There is simply no need in any Nigerian artist to reach out and connect with his/her fans.
So sometimes I wonder: Nigerian Music Artists , For The Love Of Music or For The Love Of Money ?
