Kanye West and Beck might be able to squash their feud — thanks to Beck’s dad.
In a funny turn of events, it recently surfaced in a Reddit TIL (Today I Learned) submission that the Grammy-winning artist’s father, David Campbell, worked on the string arrangement and conducting for Beyonce’s 2006 album B’Day, which nabbed its own Grammy for best contemporary R&B album.
Campbell, a music arranger, conductor and composer who specializes in string instruments, has also contributed to the chart-topping albums of an extensive list of musicians. His credits include Taylor Swift’s Red, Adele’s 21, Miley Cyrus’ Bangerz and his own son’s record Morning Phase, which became the target of West’s frustration when it won album of the year at the 2015 Grammy Awards.
West blasted Beck’s win after the show, claiming the singer “needs to respect artistry,” before recanting his words just two weeks later. “I was like, ‘Man, this is kind of good. I ain’t gonna lie,’ ” he admitted thinking after getting the chance to hear Beck’s album himself.
Good thing the rapper has already made his public apology.
