Cassper Nyovest Describes Wizkid As ‘The Biggest African Artiste’

South African hip hop artist Refiloe Maele Phoolo, also known as Cassper Nyovest has described Nigerian Afrobeats artist and CEO of Starboy Worldwide Wizkid as “the biggest artist on the African continent”.

The musician who is currently in the United States of America during an interview with Sway Calloway on Sway In the Morning disclosed Wizkid was the biggest artist on the continent.

This came about as he answered a question as to how African musicians could make good of local elements to appeal to the international market since they were all trying to sound like Americans.

According to him, the new direction is helping and cited Wizkid and Drake’s “One Dance” as an example.

“Hip hop evolves and there’s a point where it get’s saturated so I feel like right now hop hop is looking for a new sound that’s why you ended up having Drake featuring Wizkid on a song. They’re always looking for new stuff”

Asked how big Wizkid was in Africa by Sway, he replied saying;

“Wizkid is like the biggest African artist and for another reason cos like also, Nigerians are everywhere so by default Wizkid is the biggest African artist”
