Iggy Azalea was the butt of a joke in Erykah Badu’s opening monologue.
The 2015 Soul Train Awards are underway, and thanks to host Erykah Badu, they’re already a hit. The legendary R&B singer kicked things off with a phone-centric monologue (to go along with the theme of her new mixtape), and while she had plenty of great punchlines, one stood out above the rest.
“Who is this?” Erykah said as she answered a flip phone. “Iggy Azalea? Yeah, hey… no, no, no, you can come, ’cause what you doin’ is definitely not rap.”
The line was met with gasps and laughter from the crowd, which Iggy was clearly not present in. Twitter has already begun to run with it, so prepare to see a selection of memes throughout the night.
