Iggy Azalea is clearing the air amidst reports that she and T.I. have parted ways.
During an interview with “Ebro in the Morning” on Hot 97 on Wednesday, Tip admitted that there was some friction between him and the Aussie rap sensation. According to T.I., he and Iggy haven’t spoken in a while.
“It took a bit of a rest stop,” he said of their relationship. “In her defense, she had a lot thrown at her at one time. Any human being anywhere gon’ have a hard time adjusting.”
He also defended her against the critics. “It’s very difficult to be the new kid and to be the butt of the jokes,” he added. “It came at a time where culturally in this nation—she’s not from here—we were actually looking for somewhere to place some pent up aggression and they just kinda got it for no reason. Some stuff they brought upon themselves.”
T.I. tried to step in and diffuse the situation, but the final straw was Iggy’s Twitter confrontation with Q-Tip. “Everything was cool and then [she and her team] kinda came back and undid what I had just done,” he said. “They just needed a little more time to adjust.”
But news of a fallout came as a surprise to Iggy, who claims that she is still signed to a publishing deal with Tip and remains in business with him.
“Heres the deal, I am still signed to @tip and do business with him,” she tweeted. “The first ive heard of us having an ‘issue’ is via a radio interview.”
