The Chicago rapper announced his retirement from rap after his controversial “N.E.R.D.” freestyle was pulled from SoundCloud.
“@SoundCloud took the NERD freestyle down because of ‘Hate Speech’??? I’m done,” he wrote. “I get the hint God. Yo Lupe fans it’s been fun and I hope you’ve had fun. I’m officially not releasing anymore music. Albums cancelled…Getting beat up for telling the truth is not how I plan on spending the rest of life.”
Fiasco’s “N.E.R.D.” freestyle was reportedly pulled for its depiction of Jewish people. “Artists getting robbed for their publishing / By dirty Jewish execs who think it’s alms from the covenant,” raps Fiasco on the track.
This is not the first time that Fiasco has retired. Last year, he also promised to walk way. “Now that my contract is over and I have other things that I’d rather be doing I get to make the decision to go back to the shadows,” he tweeted.
Still, last year, he also announced the three albums DROGAS, DROGAS light, and SKULLS, that have now been canceled.
