Paul Play and Etisalat to Meet In Court in November Over N200m

Nigerian singer, Paul Play Dairo and telecom giant, Etisalat, will meet in court again on November 23, 2015.

The singer dragged the telecom company to court for using his hit track ‘Mosorire’ without seeking for permission.

A Federal High Court in Lagos presided over by Justice Aneke has adjourned the case to a new date. Paul told the court that Etisalat must pay him N200 million for using his track in its popular television reality show, Nigerian Idol for two consecutive years.

The singer also tagged Optima Media Group, the sole body organizing Nigeria Idol in the suit. According to report, Optima claims the media company obtained the license to use the singer’s track from COSON.

Optima also filed an application urging the court to join the Copyright Society of Nigeria as defendant in the suit. The case was adjourned till November 23 after the judge granted Optima the permission to join COSON in the suit.
