Rihanna pulled the plug on her Grammy performance. The singer was set to hit the stage at Monday’s ceremony at the Staples Center in L.A., but she didn’t appear.
She has reportedly been battling bronchitis and is on medication. Per the advice of doctors, she decided not to perform because it could permanently damage her vocal cords.
“Based on Rihanna’s examination, after Grammy rehearsal today, Rihanna’s doctor put her on vocal rest for 48 hours because she was at risk of hemorrhaging her vocal chords,” her rep said in a statement.
Despite the circumstances, she did want to perform, but reluctantly decided to listen to her doctors. She left Staples Center and went home.
Rihanna rehearsed twice and was slated to perform “Kiss It Better” off her platinum album ANTI.
