Robin Thicke made a live appearance on ABC’s “Good Morning America” today where he performed “Back Together,” which features a verse from Nicki Minaj. During the interview Robin revealed how his musical relationship with Nicki was initially set up by Jay Z.
“Remember the song ‘Sex Therapy?’ That album was doing a listening session and Jay Z happens to be there and I played this song, ‘Shake It For Daddy’ and Jay Z said you should get this new girl Nicki Minaj to be on that song, and I had never heard of Nicki. She hadn’t really blown up yet. So, I checked her out on the internet and was like ‘Wow, she’s amazing!'” He explained, “So, I got her on that record ‘Shake It For Daddy’ – this was six or seven years ago and now she’s a global superstar phenomenon – and when I had this record ‘Back Together’ I felt like it needed a little more spice, it just wasn’t quite spicy enough. So, we had to have that Nicki Minaj spice to take it over the top,” Thicke said.
