Timbaland’s been campaigning pretty hard for his new protégé Tink.
Tink performed at Fader Fort at SXSW and of course Timbo was there to support. After finishing up a DJ set, Timbaland premiered some new music of his own before bringing Tink to the stage to premiere a few new tracks of her own — one being a cover of Aaliyah’s “One in a Million.”
After Tink finished her performance, Timbaland got on the mic and told everyone Aaliyah approved of the cover because she spoke to him in his sleep.
“I don’t touch any of my sister’s records. I don’t touch Baby Girl’s records—you know that’s Aaliyah. She spoke to me in my sleep and said, ‘She’s the one.’”
You know you’ve made it big when Aaliyah gives you her seal of approval from beyond the grave!
