Several years after the death of legendary rapper, Notorious B.I.G also popularly referred to as Biggie, his former wife, Faith Evans has labeled the murder of the former Bad Boy Records act as ‘tragic and senseless’.

During a recent interview with Los Angeles Times, the singer who was married to the rapper at the time of his death in March 1997, refused to blame his death on the Diddy-owned record label.

The interview was part of of a larger retrospective piece titled Bad Boy For Life: A look back at the rap empire Sean ‘Puff Daddy’ Combs built, and Evans says the murder of her late husband was “deeper than the music business” and being a “result of people not being good people”.

“The only way you can look at it is tragic, Evans stated. “Tragic and senseless. But I don’t think that situation was the result of being in the music business. It’s a little deeper than that. I think all the things that came with it definitely added to the hype of things. The whole media element, and people being able to say what they think and not be accurate.

But the bottom line is it was two senseless tragedies that were the result of people not being good people,” she continued.“I can’t say the music business is the reason why. Losing my husband [is]something I think about every day. But I don’t blame that on Bad Boy — at all.”

During the interview, Evans also revealed why she left the once fledgling Bad Boy Records label,I left for different reasons,” she says. “I felt like it was time for me to do something different, and at that time I wasn’t getting what I felt from the other end what I was putting in, as far as being dedicated. Puff wasn’t in that same place as far as being a record executive; he was dabbling in other things at the time.”

Faith Evans and Biggie have a son, Christopher “CJ” Wallace Jr, together.
