Nigerian stars dominate the forthcoming BET Awards 2017, which will hold June 25th in Los Angeles.
Nominated for the Best International Act: Africa category are the likes of Davido, Wizkid, Tekno and Mr Eazi from Nigeria. The stars face competition from the likes of former winner Stonebwoy, SOuth Africans Babes Wodumo, AKA and Nasty C.
Beyoncé leads the 2017 BET Awards nominations with seven, including nods for Best Female R&B/Pop Artist, Best Collaboration (“Freedom” with Kendrick Lamar), Video of the Year (“Sorry”), and Album of the Year (LEMONADE).
Following Bey is Bruno Mars with five. The “That’s What I Like” singer is up in categories like Best Male R&B/Pop Artist, Video of the Year (“24K Magic”), and Album of the Year (24K Magic). But competition is stiff this year. Chance the Rapper, Solange, and Migos are all tied with four nods apiece.
The 17th annual BET Awards will air live from the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles on June 25 at 8 p.m. ET. The ceremony will follow the BET Experience at L.A. Live, which is scheduled to run June 22-25.
