Some Hip Hop fans may think Eminem murdered Jay Z on his own sh*t, but the Shady Records leader has a lot of respect for his “Renegade” collaborator. In a recent interview with the New York Times, Em was asked if he was an “it was better in my day” type of artist. The “Kings Never Die” rapper responded:
“For sure, I don’t want to be that guy. You take the good with the bad. It’s one of the things I really respect about Jay [Z]. In my opinion, he’s never had a lull in his career. It’s always just been so consistent; he’s so in tune with what is current and what’s cool to do.”
Eminem also admitted he had a lull in his own career: “Oh, me? For sure. Probably the Encore days. Personally, I look at Relapse as a lull. The rest is subject to opinion.”
The music veteran also showed love to the new generation of rap stars. Em named Drake, Big Sean, Schoolboy Q, and Kendrick Lamar as some of the acts he is paying attention to at the moment. The Detroit representative also showed love to his peers Lil Wayne and Kanye West.
