After launching the first leg of her “Unbreakable World Tour” last year and holding it up due to an unspecified surgery, Janet Jackson has postponed the second leg of the run indefinitely. This time, she says, it’s to start a family.
“I thought it was important that you would be the first to know my husband and I are planning our family, so I’m going to have to delay the tour,” she said in a video to fans. “Please, if you can try to understand that it’s important that I do this now. I have to rest up, doctor’s orders. But I have not forgotten about you. I will continue to tour as soon as I possibly can.”
Jackson, who is 49, married 41-year-old entrepreneur Wissam Al Mana in 2012.
The tour has been plagued by several delays. In December, she said the second leg of the run would be postponed until spring due to a surgery she had to undergo. However, the surgery wasn’t specified.
“I need you to know, I learned today, from my doctors that I must have surgery soon,” she said at the time. “It breaks my heart to tell you that I am forced to postpone the ‘Unbreakable Tour’ until the spring. Every date will be rescheduled.”
Then in January, Jackson denied rumors that the tour would be delayed again due to cancer. “Remember… believe it when you hear it from my lips,” she said at the time. “The rumors are untrue. I do not have cancer. I’m recovering.”
