Rihanna is at the top of her game, riding the success of ANTI and launching her own collection with Puma. Vogue tailed the mercurial singer for a cover story and got her perspective on a few different questions that have been following RiRi.

For one, Rihanna says she tried to take a break from music after her previous album Unapologetic, but that break “lasted a week.” She was back in the studio before she knew it, working on what would become ANTI two years later. When Beyonce’s “Formation” released during the same week, many people took it as a way to steal Rihanna’s thunder, but RiRi doesn’t see it that way. “They just get so excited to feat on something that’s negative. Something that’s competitive. Something that’s, you know, a rivalry. And that’s just not what I wake up to. Because I can only do me. And nobody else is going to be able to do that.”

She also has kind words for “Work” collaborator Drake, saying, “everything he does is so amazing.” She also recently brought Drake out at a show in Miami. But don’t start calling the two a couple anytime soon, because she specifically address dating and complains that, “my schedule is so crazy right now. It’s definitely going to be a challenge when I do decided to pursue a relationship … but I have hope!”

Rihanna is a woman of varied interests, and she speaks on different ventures she’s working on, including an agency for make-up artists and stylists. She likens her Fenty by Puma collection to “if the Addams Family was wearing gymwear.” It’s not just for women either. Just like much of the fashion world, her collection is unisex. “I always wanted to do what my brothers were doing,” Rihanna explains, “I always wanted to play the games they played and play rough and wear pants and go outside.”
