Rihanna donates $1.75 million to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in her native Barbados.
Rihanna made the announcement at a visit to the hospital accompanied by her mother, Monica, and grandfather, Lionel Braithwaite.
The hospital’s radiotherapy unit has been renamed the Clara Braithwaite Center for Oncology and Nuclear Medicine in honor of Rihanna’s grandmother, Clara “Dolly” Braithwaite, who died in June.
The 24 year old Rihanna said: ” This was my way of giving back to Barbados, in a form of philanthropy, by assisting the QED in its continued modernization program..I believe that this will have a huge impact on the people of Barbados.
