  • By Olamide Onipede

Solange has been named one of Glamour Magazine’s Women of the Year and rightfully so. Celebrated for her “bold declaration of our Blackness past and present” through the masterpiece that is A Seat At The Table and her slew of accomplishments from the pure dedication to her process, Solo is so deserving of being honored as one of Glamour’s Women of the Year.

In the issue Solo discusses her journey and what it took to create A Seat At The Table. Attributing her evolution to her mother Ms. Tina Knowles-Lawson, she thanks her for her endless sacrifices. “I also credit pioneers like Grace Jones, Erykah Badu, and Kelis, who have done the work and shared a wealth of information. Merely existing every day as a black woman in this country is a form of activism. Cardi B is an activist; she’s my feminist icon,” she continues while offering some praise to other women who have and continue to inspire the world.
