The Weeknd scores the 2nd highest album debut in 2015

The Weekend has scored the second largest debut this year with his new album “Beauty Behind The Madness” .It debuted at number 1 on the Billboard 200 chart! With 412,000 first week sales ( 326,000 albums) , he is right behind Drake who holds the number 1 spot with 535,000 first week sales (495,000 albums) for “If You’re Reading This Its Too Late””

An interesting fact is ,just like Drake ,the Weekend ,real name Abel Tesfaye is also from Canada with Ethiopian .He first came to light in 2010 after uploading several songs on You Tube.Drake is credited with bringing him to limelight from an underground artist to main stream,featuring him on several tracks .

In 2013, they were rumoured to have part ways after the Weekend went on to sign with Universal records ,prompting Drake to remove XO from his company name OVOXO..
XO is the Weekend’s own record label and OVO is Drake’s.It was once known as OVOXO..

At the moment, it seems despite his core fans disappointed he has gone mainstream and is now revealing a new pop sound, the”Earned it” singer has surely come to stay.

His latest single from the new album “Can’t Feel My Face” is number one on the Billboard 100 at the moment …
