Queen Bey reigns again. Fresh off her nine Grammy nods, the superstar leads with seven nominations at the 48th annual NAACP Image Awards.
Bey scores nods for Entertainer of the Year, where she’s up against Viola Davis, Regina King, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, and Chance the Rapper. She also earns nominations for Outstanding Female Artist, Outstanding Song (Contemporary), and Outstanding Music Video.
Right behind Queen Bey is her sister Solange, who received five nominations. Kendrick Lamar and Chance the Rapper are tied for third place with four noms each.
All four of the aforementioned artists will face off in the Outstanding Album category as untitled, unmastered., Coloring Book, LEMONADE, and A Seat at the Table take on Anthony Hamilton’s What I’m Feeling.
Elsewhere, Donald Glover (“Atlanta”) and Nate Parker (The Birth of a Nation) come away with three nominations apiece. Both earned recognition for writing, acting, and directing.
LeBron James will receive the NAACP Jackie Robinson Sports Award for high achievement and community involvement at the ceremony. Hosted by Anthony Anderson, the two-hour show will broadcast live on TV One on Saturday, Feb. 11, at 9 p.m.
