Bobby Shmurda’s legal woes continue. The “Hot Boy” has lost another bid to receive bail ahead of his drug-dealing and weapons-possession trial.
According to Page Six, Shmurda’s new lawyer Alex Spiro appeared in court on Monday and asked for his client to be released until his trial on Feb. 22. Shmurda has been incarcerated since his arrest in December, when the judge set his bail at $2 million.
Special Narcotics Prosecutor Nigel Farinha argued that he was a flight risk because of his out-of-state connections in Florida, as well as his net worth of half-a-million dollars. The judge agreed, so Shmurda will remain in jail until his trial.
The 21-year-old rapper and multiple members of his GS9 crew were originally arrested in connection with suspected murder of a rival, as well as shooting firearms recklessly. He has been denied bail four times already, and was reportedly given extra charges after his girlfriend tried to sneak a shank to him behind bars.
Shmurda faces up to 25 years in prison for conspiracy, reckless endangerment, and gun possession.
In an interview with “Ebro in the Morning” in February, he denied reports that he was in possession of an arsenal of weapons. “That shit is not true,” said Shmurda. “The cops been out for me for forever, man. They been trying to slay me for forever, but they never catch me with nothing.”
