DJ Khaled is Grateful.
Sporting a pink suit and matching Air Jordans, the Major Key holder announced the name of his 10th album during a press conference at the Beverly Hills Hotel on Thursday (Feb. 9).
“The title is Grateful,” said Khaled, who was joined by his wife and son Asahd. “This title means so much to me. Especially coming off Major Key and seeing that love…The message here today is love. Love is the key and love is the answer.”
The star-studded event was attended by some of Khaled’s famous friends including Busta Rhymes, Kent Jones, and Chance the Rapper, who opened with a few words about the hip-hop mogul.
“Today is historic,” said Chance. “That’s why you’re all here. I’m here to celebrate and stand in solidarity with a man who’s done historic things time and time again.”
Khaled would later reveal that he and Chance are “up to something” that’s naturally “top secret.”
Fresh from knee surgery, a recovering Diddy spoke about Khaled with his sons Christian and Justin by his side. “It’s an honor to be here,” he said. “It’s an honor to acknowledge what this man has been able to accomplish.”
Jamie Foxx, who was originally expected to attend, offered praise for Khaled in an opening video statement. “If you look at the amount of years and the amount of hits he has,” he said. “That’s something that is rare in today’s world where the terrain of music changes so fast.”
Last year, Khaled unleashed his chart-topping ninth album Major Key, which is up for a Best Rap Album at the Grammys on Sunday (Feb. 12).
While collaborations have yet to be confirmed, Khaled has been in the studio with Chance, Travis Scott, Mariah Carey, Bryson Tiller, Future, Alicia Keys, and more. Grateful will be executive produced by Khaled’s infant son, Asahd.
