Janet Jackson Makes Billboard History with New Release

Singer, Janet Jackson has made Billboard history with her new release, Unbreakable, becoming only the third act in history to achieve No.1 album in each of the last four decades.

The veteran singer’s 11th studio album was released on October 2, 2015 and went on to sell 116,000 album units, according to Nielson Music, with 109,000 of the units being in pure album sales.

The album debuted at number one on the charts and became the singer’s seventh chart-topper, as well as making her just the third act to achieve No. 1 albums in each of the last four decades.

Unbreakable is Janet’s first album since 2008’s Discipline, and her other albums to have debuted at number one are;All For You (2001), The Velvet Rope (1997), janet. (1993), Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 (1989) and Control (1986).

She has now joined Bruce Springsteen and Barbra Streisand as the only acts to have number one albums in the last four decades: ’10s, ’00s, ‘90s and ’80s.
