Kendrick Lamar has President Obama’s vote. The commander-in-chief has once again shared his support for the Compton rapper.
In an interview with YouTube on Friday (Jan. 15), the interviewer brought up the topic of Drake vs. Meek Mill. But he flipped it and asked Obama who would win in a rap battle between Kendrick and Drake, and the POTUS didn’t hesitate when stating his pick.
“Gotta go with Kendrick,” said Obama of the 11-time Grammy nominee. “I think Drake is an outstanding entertainer, but Kendrick, his lyrics… His last album [To Pimp a Butterfly] was outstanding. Best album, I think, last year.”
However, this should come as no surprise. Obama called “How Much a Dollar Cost” his favorite song of 2015 and recently met with Kendrick at the White House to discuss his mentoring initiative, My Brother’s Keeper.
The Obama-approved MC will return to his hometown next month to receive the key to the city from Compton Mayor Aja Brown.
