Fresh off house arrest, Gucci Mane went straight to work, promoting his upcoming album Woptober.

Part of that promo run included an in-depth interview with Hot 97’s Funkmaster Flex, who had Zwizzop open up about being in a maximum security prison.

“I needed to see it,” Gucci explained. “It’s a big deterrent. It made me say, ‘I don’t wanna come back here, ever. I’ll change my whole life not to come back here.’”

That wasn’t all. During his interview, Gucci also discussed Drake, Nicki Minaj, Young Thug, and Waka Flocka Flame. Check out the full interview and highlights from the Q&A below…

ON HIS JOINT ALBUM WITH DRAKE: “We mentioned that we was gonna do a mixtape together, but he’s on tour and I was on house arrest. I like working with Drake. I feel like he’s super dope and I’m the truth so it’ll be a great thing to do but at the same time, we’ve still gotta find time to do it…Eventually, it should come out, but if not, you damn sure got Woptobercoming 10/17.”

ON NICKI MINAJ: “It is what it is. It ain’t even that serious. We made some records before and they were dope records but that’s in the past.”

ON WAKA FLOCKA FLAME: “I haven’t spoken to Waka in three years. It’s not that long. There’s people I ain’t spoke to in 10 years. It’s just done. I wish him well. But I’m so concerned with the stuff I’ve got going. I just did two albums in three months.”

ON YOUNG THUG: “He was signed to me…I sold his contract to my friend Todd [Moscowitz]…I really care about Thug. Thug is super talented and I been seen it. I don’t want you to think I’m trying to be funny. I was getting wind of him dealing with a lot of different people and I called him and told him, ‘I’m gonna do this deal with Todd because I want you in you in the best hands.”

ON COLLABORATIONS HE’D LIKE: “I like the young people. Maybe like 21 Savage, Young M.A. … Anything that’s hot. Lil Uzi Vert, Lil Yachty. Anybody who’s hot and the kids say he’s hot, I think is hot. That’s how I do it. I embrace anything that’s new.”

ON HIS AUTOBIOGRAPHY: “I just did a book deal with Simon & Schuster. That’ll be coming out at the top of next year. I did a whole autobiography. I wrote it while I was locked up.”

ON FITNESS: “I started running up and down the steps in jail. It was relieving stress. When I started, I couldn’t even run up and down one time…It got to where I used to do it 200 times up and down…I ended up losing 80 pounds and that was my goal.”

ON LESSONS LEARNED IN PRISON: “I learned that I don’t have the privilege to make another mistake or to blame an excuse. I can’t say it was drugs. I know my vices now. I know if I do this, where it’s gonna end up. There’s no excuse. There’s no plan. It’s just black and white with me. If I do the right things, I have no ceiling…I’ve got so much clarity on what I’ve got to do and what I can’t do.”

ON DRUGS AND PRISON: “I don’t even want [drugs] anymore because I associate it with jail. I don’t wanna go back to jail. I don’t wanna go to prison. I done been in jail so many times, but prison was a whole different experience.”
